can you recommend a drill?
I'm looking to get a drill/driver for DH for his birthday/Xmas. Cordless would be good, but i'm not opposed corded, since i've heard a lot of bad stuff about batteries dying, especially with infrequent use. It would mostly be around the house stuff and probably woodworking (something he's always mentioned a liking for but never had the tools). i've read a lot of great reviews on stuff but dont know what half of it means, lol.
i've heard several mentions of the "hammer" thing, but am clueless to its use. Any advice? and do you know of any great sales going on right now?
i'd like to spend under $100.
go to home depot site and look at the "Makita 6408k" Or just google " Makita 6408k" . It is a corded( you dont want a cordless for ocasional use) you were correct on that one. Something is going to crap out in a year or two. And a corded NEVER runs out of power, will last for many years. I has a 3/8 inch chuck that is the size opening that the drill bit goes in. 1/4 " is to small. It goes forward and reverse to put in screws and take them out. It is variable speed( you control the speed and power with the triger) for putting in screws, and it comes with a case. Dont, get a cordless.Those are people who use it a lot, And the have two battery in the charger while they are using the one in drill. And if you want to use right now and the batt is low, you have to wait for it to charge. For around the house ;corded is your BEST choice. 3/8 in. reversible/variable/ speed / corded ,drill.. The keyless chuck, just means you dont have to have a chuck key to change drill bits. Good present.
