How to Drywall
If you are refurbishing an existing room or creating an addition, adding drywall is a great "do it yourself same project. Proper drywall techniques can be the difference in how a waiting room, but with some tips that you will be able to make your room look excellent. Most materials and supplies can be found at your local home improvement or hardware store. You will be able to save a lot of money for do the project yourself, the more you will have the satisfaction of carrying out its project of home improvement.
Materials and Supplies
The Part of starting a drywall project is to ensure you have all materials and supplies. Supplies and materials should be purchased based on the amount necessary. Calculate this by determining the total square footage of the room, more than ten per cent to allow for waste. Divide that total by thirty to use 4 'x 8' sheets of drywall, and turns to the nearest number. You then need joint tape, joint compound, screws and nails. For every purchase 1,000 square foot common tape 370 feet, 140 pounds of joint compound, 700 screws and 700 nails. This will provide all supplies and materials needed to complete your project.
Tools
Having the right tools is also required to successfully complete a drywall project. You will need a knife to cut the drywall, plus a squad to make cuts properly aligned. A saw is also useful for cutting out places for electrical outlets or other obstacles. A rasp can be used to shave a little more cut pieces, but not necessary. The screws and nails require a hammer and a screwdriver. We recommend a screwdriver can be used. A taping knife is essential to finish the job and helps to spread the compound. You will also need a sander to smooth all the seams.
Hanging and fixing
Hang the sheets top to bottom, perpendicular to the preparation. Check local building codes for fastening requirements as these may vary. Use screws every sixteen inches along the structure and fill with nails so fasteners are seven inches. Countersink the two screws and nails to a more secure fit. Make sure the joint position correctly. Boards cut hand must fulfill other hand cut joints and natural edges must comply with natural edges.
Finish
Once all sheets are in place, you start to apply joint compound to the seams. Do not worry about using too. Run the knife along the seam, pressing space. Then use the tape, pressing gently from one end to end, focusing on the seam. Working from the center to the end, the press and soft the tape. Apply a thin layer of compound over the tape so you can still see it. Fill in all nails and screws countersunk with compost also at this point. Allow this dry for at least twenty-four hours before starting the next process. The next process involves more complex to smooth all the edges of the previous phase including the nails and screws. Allow this to dry another twenty four hours. The final layer will have a little patience, as this is where you want to make perfectly smooth edges. Take care ensure that all edges are smooth and fuller. Finally, I sand the walls. Be sure to wear protective masks as there will be a lot of dust generated and vacuum often to remove particles.
Once you've finished with drywall project you will be ready for the first of the walls. Darkening help to hide imperfections and give an even surface for your final product. Now you can choose the paint or wallpaper the walls to your liking. The entire process can take several days including drying time and work.
