Do you thing this is wrong?
In school lately I've gotten fed up with having to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance. So I don't even stand up or pay attention to it anymore. To me the whole reciting the Pledge is a bit dictaorshipy to me. Since I was in 1st grade that stupid thing has been drilled in my brain and until a couple of weeks ago I never really knew what i was saying. Yet very morning millions of kids in America drone on roboticly to a sheet of fabric about how great america is. It's almost like praying to the thing! Like a prayer over dinner or something. I asked my friends if they knew what they were saying and they shrugged and mumbled an 'i dunno'. And today my teacher told me she would give me a detention tomorrow if i don't 'stand up and pay respect to my country and everything it stands for'
can she do that?
yea i feel the same. but it's too earl in the morning. and there are videos of students saying it and they play them over and over again. i just stand there with my hand over my heart any more thats it.
