Can you name a doctor or a lawyer or a teacher who never liked him but he kept checking with them or take their classes?
Or you can be a store where the staff disagree or very useful, but you still buying there anyway. Does anyone in those places of business in mind pop?
If they do, then you have shown signs of what I call excess loyalty. The aforementioned professionals and businesses that have been moving along a one way street, leading to its benefits, but far from satisfied.
I was too loyal, and frankly baffles me enough to want to delve into the whys much deeper.
For example, I continued to use an accounting firm that had a very patchy record of producing favorable results for me. In fact, one year I gave a false trail that cost me an extra $ 25,000 in state taxes alone.
I suffered through two audits, one of which was caused by the absence of negligence by the company to submit an adequate, but I was willing to continue using this computer, until finally, the spell is broken and he broke ties.
Actually took some pride in the fact that we continue business as we always have the feeling that there was virtue in it, especially in a what-you-are-you-done-for-me-lately society.
But my commitment to them was disproportionate to what they had won.
We used to romances and friendships uneven, where some parties contribute much more than others, but what excuse for tolerating this imbalance in the relationship business?
One of the earliest explanations for the over loyalty seems to be the simple fact that we develop certain habits. You can drive a little out of the way to a certain coffee shop in the morning. You can get the identical service in a closer, but he spends on gas and time because, well, you just of always visiting the cafeteria particular.
One memory slot is engraved in our brains, and our cars seem to drive them the same age, same old places, to see the same old faces.
My car insurance agent sold his agency to someone who does not know at all, but I kept my business there for no apparent reason. I was in automatic billing, and I suppose the idea of changing the insurance sources seemed a great effort, without a guaranteed profit.
However, the new agent had not earned my business. He bought it, but I had no obligation to stay in the store, but I did, and still I'm here!
Although I am as anxious as the next person to right the economic ship itself, this recession is an opportunity to review our values of loyalty, to check whether we are leaving on prevailing habit most appropriate criteria for selection, preferring, and above all, to stay with some providers.
Do not ask what I can keep doing for them, but what should they do for me?
